Tasty Tapas @ The Bird In Hand, Kensington
Finding a great restaurant on a random road in London always feels like you’ve discovered something that the locals have been keeping a secret. That’s definitely the case with The Bird In Hand on Masbro Road. Inside this refurbished old pub is a modern chic restaurant serving little plates of tapas and pizzas.
Tiled tables and terracotta decorations hint at the Spanish influence but the menu takes on a variety of different cultures including German corn fed chicken schnitzel with apple and celeriac remoulade, and Italian pea and mint arancini with chilli jam.
Choose 3 tapas plates per person, anything less and you might leave feeling a little hungry. The dishes are packed full of flavour and cooked beautifully. The restaurant is also big on pairing wines with the food so ask you waiter for a great recommendation. You might want to turn up early to get a table as I snagged the last one just before 6pm and it was consistently full while we ate. There is a lovely bar you could eat at, or chill while you wait for a table, as well as outside tables for lovely days.
